Celebrating the beginning of a new project is always exciting, but it is even more so when you have the privilege of working with clients who possess impeccable taste and trust in your vision and process. This was certainly the case for our team when a stylish retired couple approached us with their dream of creating a modern beach house on the stunning West Vancouver waterfront.

As we reviewed the preliminary architectural design, we set out to elevate this traditional shingle-clad home with modern details and a bold monochromatic palette. The interiors featured a harmonious blend of classic materials such as white oak, blackened steel, and white marble - reimagined with clean, contemporary lines and refined detailing. A warm and inviting ambiance was achieved by selecting furnishings in timeless silhouettes with textural fabrics. This is best exemplified in the dining room's slip-covered chairs, paired with the low-profile rustic wire-brushed table, beautifully highlighting a Tom Burrows artwork.

One of the most striking elements of the space is the steel and oak tread staircase, which can be seen from the outside when approaching the home. When designing the stairs, our HB team put great care and consideration into creating something unique and dramatic while maintaining a straightforward structure to beautifully frame the custom Lindsay Adelman knotty bubbles pendants - a nod to the seaside setting. The outcome of this home is an expert display of how less is more. The design is simple yet bold, and captivating to all who visit. Most importantly, its stunning outlook across the water has an ability to stop time, creating a serene, inviting and comfortable space for our client's enjoyment.
